As a result of the shutdown caused by the coronavirus, it has been problematic for many Safety supervisors to complete required seminar.
Safety supervisors that should have completed required seminar in the period between 12th of March 2020 and 30th of September 2020, but has not been able to complete this due to the coronavirus, will be granted an exemption from this when attending a course with examination day within 30th of September 2020.
The exemption period for person certificate has been extended to 30 September, 2020
This means that anyone with an expired certificate during the exemption period (12 March - 30 September) can re-certify until 30 September (the day of examination). After this date, you have to participate in an ordinary course.
It is not allowed to do rope access work with an invalid certificate after 30 September.
SSE and the training companies recommend to sign up for a course as early as possible, as course may become filled up when we approaches 30 September. Full courses do not give any reason for further extended exemption.
The training companies will conduct more courses than usual during this period. Please contact the training companies for signing up for a course.
This date is final, and will only be considered extended if the Norwegian Authorities change the advice on infection protection.
In January, the version of NS 9600, which has been used for almost 10 years, was replaced by a new version NS 9600:2020. Some changes have been made in the requirements and the standard has been restructured into 6 parts instead of 4. There are no major changes for Class A certified persons.
